As always, you should discuss any program you are considering to lose fat, with your doctor. Getting input from your doctor is always the best approach to choosing an effective program to lose fat. Your doctor maybe able to recommend the most effective type of program for your particular needs. The other alternative is to select several programs which you believe will work for you and then discuss each with your doctor.

Selecting A Program:
Nutritional Requirements. It is unsafe to consume fewer than 1,200 calories a day unless you are directed to do so by your doctor and kept under medical supervision. 1,500 calories a day is the recommendation.
Healthful diets will include lean meats or other protein sources and low-fat dairy products. You should avoid any program that cuts out entire food groups.
Exercise Requirements. Exercise is an important part of your goal to lose fat. It is one of the two main elements needed to lose fat and keep it off for the long term. An effective program will include a moderately physically exercise routine.
Cost. The cost of any program to lose fat can be an important factor. Most any method you select to help you lose fat is going to cost. If you have a limited budget then you will want to find a program which will fit within your budget. A diet designed to help you lose fat can increase you food budget, so knowing the cost to implement a program is part of selecting the best program.
For example, the most expensive programs are the pre-packaged meal delivery diets. For a single person the meals can run up to $300 a month. If you are single this maybe reasonable, but if you have a family, the additional cost to buy and prepare meals from them can be tremendous.
Hidden Cost. There are hidden costs associated with some diets. Monthly fees, special foods or supplements, receipt books, exercise equipment, calorie counters and other special needs. It is important that you know what the total cost of the program will be before you choose a program.
Lifestyle Compatibility. It is important that the program you choose to lose fat be compatible with your everyday lifestyle. If you work and have a family to care for your time is important. Having a program that requires special menus just for you can create extra work and time. Having to attend meetings, support groups or gym time can present an obstacle to your having the success you are wanting. Choose a fat loss program that you feel confident in the fact than you can fulfill its requirements.
Your goal is to find a program that meets your fat loss goals, time restraints and eating preferences. Select a program that you can modify to your own needs without affecting its effectiveness.

How To Lose Fat While Dining Out
With today’s fast paced lifestyle, more and more families are dining out. For those of us trying to lose fat and maintain a healthy diet this can present problems.
Many restaurants have recognized the need for healthier menu choices, and they are working hard to satisfy that demand. However, not knowing how and with what ingredients the menu items were prepared can present a problem. It is important that we pay close attention to the menu and make the healthiest choices possible.
Here are a few tips to help you eat healthier and continue to lose fat while dining out.
- Be Proactive: Ask your server how a dish is prepared. What ingredients were used in its preparation? Is it a low fat, low sodium dish?
- Avoid Deep Fried Dishes: Select or request grilled, baked or broiled entrees.
- Portion Size: Portion sizes have become bigger at many restaurants. Order the leaner and small cuts of meat or fish. Just because the portion is large does not mean you have to eat it all.
- Choose Steamed Vegetables: Steamed vegetables are low fat, low calorie choices. Avoid vegetables that are prepared in cream or butter sauces.
- Fat Free Salad Dressing: Use a fat free or low fat salad dressing for your salad. If you must use a regular dressing ask for the dressing on the side so that you can control the amount used.
- Soup Choices: Avoid bisques or cream soups. Choose broth based soups.
- Potatoes: As always, choose a baked potato over French fries. Just don’t load it down with butter. Ask for a butter substitute.
- Sauces: Order a simple pesto sauce without meat or stick with a tomato based sauce for you pasta dishes. Avoid cream or heavy Alfredo sauces.
- Deserts: Choose a desert of fresh fruit or sorbet. If you can’t turn down a traditional or special dessert then share it with your dining guest.
- Fast Food Restaurants: Most fast food restaurants offer healthier items such as salads, baked potatoes, unsweetened tea, diet soft drinks and low fat dressing. Avoid the super size items. Portion control at all times.
Dining out presents challenges to those of us trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle and lose unwanted fat, but there is no reason to forgo the pleasure or need of dining out. By following the guidelines listed above, and by adding some creative tips of your own, you can make dining out a healthy experience as well as a pleasant one.
