Hi!

My name is Les and I’m sixty five years old and semi-retired. I retired several years ago after forty years working in a very physically demanding profession. After retirement I began a sedentary life style with very little exercise and a poor diet. It was not long, about four to five months; I had gained some twenty five pounds and four inches in my waist. For someone who had always been thin and fit I was unprepared for this kind of body. All of the weight and size gain began to show more than just in my size. It resulted in low energy, clothes that would no longer fit, low self-esteem and just pure laziness. It was not until I heard one of my children ask my wife if I was getting fat that I knew that I had to lose the fat I had accumulated since my retirement.

I tried several different weight loss programs but the results were very disappointing. I loss some weight, about five pounds in ten weeks, but my waist size remained unchanged. Having become an internet junkie after retirement I started researching weight loss and how to lose fat. I kept finding the same theme throughout my research. Diet and exercise was the only way to lose not only weight but body fat.

With this information in tow I began a nutritional diet and a weekly exercise routine. I slowly changed my diet. I removed most, but not all, sugar and starch foods from my diet. I started a slow exercise routine, targeting my core muscle groups at first and then expanding to other muscle groups. As I began to see results from my efforts I expanded my diet to eliminate processed foods, eliminated fast foods, and added whole grains, nuts and more fruit. I must say at this point, it was not as difficult as I had imagined. The change in my diet opened me up to new foods and new meals that I other wise may have never enjoyed. The results were, I loss all the weight I had gained plus some and reduced my waist back down to what it had been almost all of my adult life.

While doing my research to find the best method to lose weight and fat, I was surprised to find so many weight loss programs offering so many different methods for losing weight. So many different types of diets, strength programs and magic pills it was unbelievable. Most of these programs were being promoted by websites trying to sell a product. When I started researching for information on what are called, “authority sites” such as WebMD, and About.com I started to find reliable information. I complied several large files on how the body uses foods, which foods our body needs most, those it does not need, how exercising effects our body and so much more.

I decided to share my research with other people who want to lose weight and body fat but do not have the time to do all of the research. Nothing can be more disheartening to someone wanting to lose weight than following a weight and fat loss program that does not work.
